BOND

BOND is centered around an experimental methodology directed at material development. In collaboration with the Fraunhofer WKI institute, a machinery infrastructure has been engaged to facilitate the synergistic fusion of wood and biopolymers.

BOND is a biodegradable material composition derived from biopolymers, namely Polylactidacid and Polybutylenesuccinate, which have been subjected to modification through the incorporation of Tannins. Tannins, naturally occurring constituents found in tree bark, serve as protective agents against UV radiation and insect infestation for plants and trees. Through the harmonization of these Tannins with biopolymers, a novel material has been cultivated, capable of being molded into film form and demonstrating adhesive properties when subjected to heat. Notably, this innovation incorporates a segment of waste product, specifically tree bark, into the broader cycle of wood-based materials, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and integrated material system.
