FIBERFIBER LAB

FiberFiber Lab - a material lab concept for natural fibres in Berlin. Initiated by Sofia Souidi and Jana Grewe, the future lab sees itself as a mediating element between material research and design, bringing together tools, perspectives and ideas from a wide range of disciplines. Initial connections between industry, research institutes, designers and exhibition venues have been established.

A collaborative research field for the development of new processes and materiality in our built environment. Applied, artisanal means and scientific principles shape a practice that knows how to absorb supposedly non-disciplinary inserts and founds a connectable knowledge transfer. This creates an experimental space for questioning views that find answers and that can succeed in leaving cramped research fields behind.

 In a world where the use of harmful materials is the status quo, material change is not only necessary but overdue. At this moment, the jointly developed concept of both initiators is pursued separately from each other.
